CJ Hobgood

Surf/Fish

Smith Athlete CJ Hobgood has a surf resume that few can match. The 2001 ASP World Champion from Melbourne, Florida recently "retired" from the WSL World Championship Tour, leaving behind a legacy as both a winning competitor and also one of the sport's most loved characters. CJ is famous for giving it his all in giant Tahiti and many of the heaviest waves on tour but also a progressive air game that made him a video favorite in some of the most classic edits of the last fifteen years. Whether it was the Taylor Steele films like Campaign or the famous Globe series films like Year Zero, CJ has always been seen as not only an East Coast legend, but a fan favorite worldwide. These days CJ is still traveling and searching for the best waves he can as well as hunting fish in his beloved Florida. Fishing has always been a staple of CJ's time and now that he's not on tour he can be found on a boat as much as a surfboard with the Salty Crew and scaring fish the same way he scared waves.
