How did you first take an interest in extreme sports, and what drew you toward skiing?:    Ever since I was little I've been drawn to athletic endeavors and challenges of the intellect. With extreme sports, especially skiing - you get challenged everyday.

Greatest accomplishments in skiing:.I have always had the goal to film with TGR, that goal came to fruition last season – beyond stoked!  Other than that, if you can accomplish a smile every day you are skiing, you’re ok in my book..

Why do you like Smith Optics?:  SMITH creates the illest goggles, sunglasses, and helmets.  I like to use product that looks good, superior functionality…. and that, transpires to how you are going to ski – you’re gonna crush it!

Favorite Smith product: Smith Phenom goggles.

First memory of going big: My first “big” cliff, back when I was 19 or so.  I started skiing in 8th grade, went about 30 times/year through high school, if that. First year in college, I was with some heavy hitters, and they had this legit 35 footer lined up at Snowbird called “King Kong”, they hit it, I was last man standing, nervous as hell, heart beat racing…  I remember leaning up against some trees and just staring into the sky and taking deep breaths - things  became clear.. I realized I had the ability, the snow was deep and steep enough…  I gained my confidence and sent it!  What I didn’t do was scope exactly where I was going, I hit a pine tree in the landing and skinned all the branches off one side of the poor little tree.  Sorry buddy, but you taught me a lesson; know where you’re going!

What is the best thing about being a pro skier?  I am always on the hunt for fresh snow, I’m a professional powder hound - I get to ski Powder quite a bit every year.  I live in Utah where we get the best Powder in the world, I travel to remote mountains all over the world to ski their pow, and it’s just nice to have a profession where you use your body, I am very thankful to be a professional body utilizer.

The Worst?: Sometimes it’s hard to wake up at 3:00am, minus 10 degrees outside, to hike up a mountain for first light.  But then I’m on top of a mountain for first light!  That doesn’t suck!

In the off season, I like to…   Run my company, Discrete headwear – it keeps my creative juices flowing.  I typically make it to South America every summer.  Other than that, just participate in standard summertime recreation…  diving boards, camping, hiking, Mtn biking, bbq’s, gym, tandem road bicycling, water ramps, and my new favorite sport – golf.  My first time golfing was last summer, I par’d a hole on my first day!  I haven’t again since…  so frustrating…  I should probably get a lesson…

Misc, shout outs, thanks, rants….  Big shout out to my mom for teaching me how to ski.  My dad for always supporting me, people often ask me where I get it from..  well my dad, when he was my age… he swan dived, naked, off 70 footers into water!  Gnarly, makes me look like a pansy..  Haha!

In 15 years I hope to be….
Fit as shit and showing 20-year olds what’s up.
