The 5-hour Energy presented by Kenda Racing Team is a 10 rider, U.S. based, UCI, Continental squad led by Spanish racing standout Francisco ÒPacoÓ Mancebo PŽrez. Mancebo, a seasoned climber and stage-racing strongman with five Top 10 finishes in the Tour de France since 2000, brings veteran leadership to the Team. He won the 2009 Larry H Miller Tour of Utah and finished 2nd at the same event in 2010. In our first 2 years managing the team we won the MenÕs NRC title (Mancebo) and picked up the Team NRC Titles for 2012.
From our humble beginnings we have been defining the style of alternative action sports and winning multiple national titles in Cycling while promoting personalities from music to motocross. Vanderkitten is a symbol of empowerment for female athletes everywhere. Our continued investment into women’s athletics has been recognized the world over and our racing program has produced world-class athletes.
Since 2005, Vanderkitten has been committed to spreading awareness of women excelling, battling the odds and achieving. From Cycling to Dance, movement has become the hallmark of the change we promote. Vanderkitten has evolved into an organization dedicated to increasing the visibility of successful women and inspiring women by sharing those stories.
A new chapter has begun for Vanderkitten as we shift from the commercial world to a mission-driven role to inspire women to live healthy, active lifestyles through the promotion of athletes, personalities and everyday women achieving extraordinary things.
We all want to see a world where women athletes achieve global equalityÊwith men to the same levels that we are are beginning to achieve in career and domestic roles, but what still lacks is a structure to support and grow this mission. Vanderkitten is helping companies become active participants in our “Invest in the Sport” methodology of creating a market that supports our athletes by bridging the stories with the end consumers.
Vanderkitten started as an answer for women looking for casual apparel that acknowledged their prowess and achievements. We then created fashion-forward, racing inspired cycling apparel for those who want to make a statement. By integrating sport, design and apparel, we created a new model for sustainability of women’s sportsÉ we just wish more companies had our courage because athletics are definitely better when women have an equal opportunity to kick ass!
Investing in Vanderkitten is investing in an equal opportunity for women.
For the past 3 years, Smith Optics has been a proud supporter for the UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team (UHC). This Pro Continental team is widely regarded as the premier team in the USA, and they are genuinely thrilled to be wearing theÊPivlock V2Êsunglasses. The product feedback from all of the riders has been amazing. These athletes create quite a bit of sunglass envy amongst their rivals as the smooth styling and technical features of the Pivlock set the bar for performance sunglasses. As of the beginning of May 2013, the UHC Team has emerged victoriousÊ11Êtimes and has placed a total ofÊ26Êriders on the podium steps. The versatility and depth the 2013 edition of this Pro Continental unit is evidenced by the factÊ10Êdifferent members of the 22 man squad have now produced a Top 3 result in the U.S, and the season is just starting up.
In spite of the third year Pro Continental team’s success on the bike and the demands of professional cycling, the gentlemen of Team UnitedHealthcare continue to make it a point to make a difference in the lives of young people by engaging communities and young people across the US in educational discussions and activities designed to help people develop healthy habits from an early age. Finding time to consistently give back to those in need in the communities where they race while spreading a positive message about the importance of living a healthy lifestyle and how cycling can play a part in that, is something this Team is dedicated to.
Keep an eye out for the Blue Train this summer, as they take on all comers at the Amgen Tour of California, The US Pro Cycling Challenge, and dozens of other races all over the world. For more information, check out their websiteÊhttp://uhcprocycling.com/
