Warranty Policy

This updated policy applies to all purchases made after November 18, 2022.
Our Commitment to Quality
At Smith Sport Optics Inc. ("Smith"), we're dedicated to providing high-quality, long-lasting products. Our warranty policy is designed to support this commitment.
General Warranty Terms & Conditions
- Manufacturer's Defects: Smith has the sole discretion to determine what qualifies as a manufacturer's defect.
- Authentic Products: Only authentic Smith products purchased from an authorized Smith dealer or directly from the Smith website are covered by our warranty.
- Resolution: If a product is found defective by Smith, we will, at our sole discretion (unless otherwise required by law), either:
- Replace the product.
- Repair the product.
- Provide a coupon* for a future purchase.
- Provide a refund for the product**.
- Shipping & Taxes: If your warranty claim is approved, you are responsible for the cost of shipping and taxes for the replacement product.
- Product Modifications: Any alteration to Smith lenses, frame parts, or nose pads voids all warranties. Your Smith warranty covers authentic Smith products, including authentic Smith lenses, frames, and parts, without any modifications.
* Coupon Redemption: Any coupon provided for an approved warranty claim must be redeemed within 90 days from the date of issuance. After 90 days, the warranty claim and coupon will expire.
** Refunds: Refunds are only available for products purchased directly from smithoptics.com.
Where to Make a Claim
- Online Purchases: To start an online warranty claim, please visit the Smith Warranty Claim Form.
- In-Store Purchases: For purchases made at a physical store, please contact your local Smith retailer. You can find a store near you using the "FIND A STORE" link in the top right-hand corner of your country's Smith website.
Warranty Coverage by Product Type
Limited Lifetime Warranty
- Smith Sunglasses & Goggles: All Smith sunglasses and goggles (including custom goggles) are covered for the lifetime of the product against manufacturer's defects, under the terms and conditions of this policy.
Standard Limited Warranty
- Smith Helmets: All Smith helmets are covered for three years from the date of purchase against manufacturer's defects, under the terms and conditions of this policy.
- Smith Prescription Eyewear (Rx): Covered for two years from the date of purchase against manufacturing defects. Nose pads and temples are provided free of charge as long as parts are available. We will repair or replace, at our discretion, any Smith Prescription Eyewear found to be defective, excluding damage caused by improper or unreasonable use.
- Smith Apparel & Accessories: All Smith apparel and accessories are covered for one year from the date of purchase against manufacturer's defects, unless otherwise stated by applicable mandatory law.
How the Warranty Process Works
The warranty process typically takes 1-2 weeks. To ensure a smooth process, please have the following ready:
- Product name and model.
- A valid proof of purchase.
- Photos that clearly show the problem with your product. For examples, please see our Warranty Claim Photos guide.
Replacement & Crash Policies
General Replacement Policy
If your product issue does not fall under our warranty policy, Smith may, at our discretion, be able to replace interchangeable model frames, lenses, and other parts for a fee. Please note that scratched or otherwise abused lenses and fixed lenses are not eligible for this replacement service.
Helmet Crash Replacement Policy
Accidents happen, and your safety is paramount. If your helmet has been involved in a crash, do not continue to use it. Smith offers a 30% off MSRP discount for crash replacement helmets.
Minimum requirements to qualify for our crash replacement discount:
- Damage must be from an activity-related crash or impact.
- The crash replacement request must be made within two years of the original purchase date, with proof of purchase.
- You must be able to present your crashed helmet and details of the incident that caused the damage.
- You must be the original owner of the helmet.
- Cases of helmet abuse are not eligible for replacement.
- Helmet replacements are limited to one unit per year.

Limitations on Warranty and Damages
EXCEPT FOR THE EXPRESS WARRANTIES STATED IN THIS POLICY AND TO THE EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SMITH MAKES NO OTHER REPRESENTATIONS OR WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING ANY WARRANTY OF QUALITY, MERCHANTABILITY, OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR USE OR PURPOSE. SMITH SPECIFICALLY DISCLAIMS ANY OTHER WARRANTIES, WHETHER WRITTEN OR ORAL.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, any warranty not expressly regulated in this policy (including any implied warranty) shall be considered excluded.
In the event of a breach of any warranty on this product, the consumer's damages are limited to repair of the product, replacement with an identical or equivalent style, coupon redemption, or refund, at the election of Smith. Unless otherwise provided by mandatory applicable law, Smith is NOT liable for any other damages, such as special, incidental, or consequential damages, resulting from the use of this product.
