River Radamus

Alpine Ski Race - @riverradamus

Colorado, USA

Born the son of two longtime ski coaches, you could say that River was destined to become a skier. His parents strapped him to a pair of skis before he could walk, and the rest is history. Growing up in Edwards, Colorado, River was immediately drawn to the speed and the freedom of skiing and decided to chase that feeling as far as it could take him. At 18, he became the first 3-time Youth Olympic Games Gold Medalist. At 20, the most decorated American in World Junior history.

Now, River is a full-time professional ski racer. Known for his natural style and extreme angles on skis, River is a rising name on the World Cup tour. He is obsessed with perfecting his craft, pushing limits, and moving forward the sport of ski racing.

Off snow, River is an avid Photographer, Surfer, and traveler. He is passionate about experiencing the places skiing takes him and using his platform to promote preservation of the lands he gets to enjoy.

Ask River

If you could spend a day with any other SMITH athlete, who would it be and why?

Zeb Powell. Watching his videos fires me up and inspires me. His style is so unique, and he makes it look completely effortless.

What is your biggest fear or achilles heel?

I am reallllly spooked of heights. That's why I chose racing, I guess - I prefer to stay grounded.

What is your favorite SMITH product and why?

The Icon MIPS helmet because it protects my dome. Which makes my mom happy :)

If you weren't a professional skier, what would you be?

I'd love to be a journalist or a travel photographer.

What are 5 things you can't leave home without?

My camera, earbuds, Sriracha packet, a nice pen, and a pack of gum.

If you could have 1 super power, what would it be?

Teleportation. No more TSA security lines.
