Leo Fioravanti

As the newest member of the Smith surf team, Italian surfer Leonardo Fioravanti brings an international flavor combined with a stellar resume to make a complete surfer everyone globally is noticing. Italy isn't known for waves or professional surfing but Leo is changing that. His dream of competing on the big stage began at age six when he rode his first wave in Anglet on the Cote Basque in France. From that point on he worked to become the best competitor he could. As a member of Quiksilver's global team and with support from his family, he eventually traveled the world surfing as one of the best junior competitors in Europe, ultimately earning numerous titles. Then, in 2015, while surfing a heat in the Volcom Pipe pro, Leo had a horrendous accident at the famously treacherous wave that broke two vertebrae. The severe injury derailed him for months yet by the end of that year he was competing again in Hawaii and has since gained some of his most impressive results. Leo dreams of competing on the WSL World Championship Tour and making his country proud and so far nothing has stopped him from doing that.
