I don’t normally write reviews unless I really like something. These pursuits are my favorite glasses I’ve ever worn. The variable light lens is amazing. I have worn these on glacier, snow, dark, forest etc. They transition quickly and adapt to whatever conditions you’re in. I love them because you can be out in bright sunlight but when you get back to tree line and it darkens the sunglasses lighten up. They are so comfortable on my face which allows me to forget that they’re on. They are very large but that’s the style I prefer. They don’t let any light in around the frames like my wildcats do. They do really provide goggle- like coverage. If you’re on the fence, just get them.

I bought these behemoths a few years ago and can attest to their durability (for the most part). The photochromatic lenses are unstoppable. I use them on glaciers and in the sun, and early morning hikes. They don’t fog and the visibility is unbeaten. The only thing I would change is to beef up the pin that holds the lanyard - after several months of regular use, especially if you remove the lanyard often, the pins/holes get worn out and pop out too easily. Also, I have a giant head and face, and these fit perfect.

My current wildcats served me well for a multitude of adventures. However, on the sunniest days in the PNW alpine I’d develop headaches and eye sensitivity by the end of the day which I attributed to sun leak around the edges. I was dissuaded by the “large frame” description as I’m not a big guy 67 in tall. These however are marginally bigger than the wildcats with better coverage. Change lag is better than I’ve seen, and the lens change out is quick and easy during weather changes. I do however struggle to remove the side shields for mountain biking, but really I don’t notice them, it just traps a little more heat.

I like the fit and field of view. The nose guard and side shields work well and provide needed sun protection. Very tight fit to remove the strap and a little worried about breaking something No lense distortion makes for a great set of outdoor glasses

The Pursuit is 100% the pursuit of perfection. The look and feel are great. I wear my glasses for walking outdoors and in doors. There is no issue with fogging. The frame is super-light, to the point i had to double check they were still on my face when walking outdoor 😊. The field of view is also amazing. I will be getting a second pair in a different colour, because this kit rocks! Keep up the great work Smith.

These rock ! Everything I was looking for, goggle sized lense , photochromatic , side shields, strap and wide nosepiece.

I thought I'd mainly wear these on snow, but finding myself wearing them all the time now. Coverage is great, ventilation is great, as well as the fit. I only wish there was a set of polarized lenses available - I'd love to wear these on the water as well.

Comfy and photochromamtic lens works great!

Glasses are awesome. Would’ve given them a five, but… 1. There’s a coating on the inside of the lens that makes it hard to clean. 2. The amber lens I bought w them were more clear. I was looking for an amber lens that helped lighten up the shadows in the trails.

Very comfortable on the face, lens adapt to light well, can’t wait to try them on the snow.

Best wrap around glasses I’ve ever owned. The photo chromatic lens is also the first one that I’ve owned and is a real game changer

I used these glasses on a recent expedition to the summit of Denali and they were perfect. Great coverage, great VLT range, didn’t fog or freeze, excellent fit under climbing helmet, and great mountaineering features with the nose guard and side shields. When the weather turned nasty and others reached for goggles, I didn’t have to change a thing. My only complaint is that the side shields are difficult to remove and broke when I tried to remove them back at basecamp. The end of the arms can also scratch the lens if you’re not careful. Other than that, could not recommend more highly for mountaineering.

Using as mtb and running glasses and they’re amazing

These glasses were perfect for what I was looking for. I run super warm usually on the slopes, goggles for whatever reason, don’t help, especially in the spring. These glasses were the perfect match! Stuck to my face with zero issues while riding, popped off the helmet in between runs and boom, sunglasses that were perfect!

Ideal for my ski touring adventures. Great lens and much needed sun protection.

Love the fit on my head. It feels secure and looks good. Good amount of Koroid to protect from impact. Also love the storage for the glasses, they stay in place even at high speed.

Smith eye wear just keeps getting better. The Pursuits hold up to the hype! The photo chromatic is for real. For fit and function these have been the best for glacier skiing uphill travel and down. The Pacific Northwest offers changing light conditions and the Smith technology adapts wonderfully. I 100% recommend these. The nose beak is a bit frustrating to install. It feels that the nose brackets might break. I suggest installing it before your adventure begins. I’ve given up on attempting to install mid trail. Great idea and I don’t have any suggestions on how to improve the concept. I probably need more practice. I’ve already lost the side eye shield during a tour. Hopefully I can find a replacement. I have no idea how I lost it during a ski.

I worked a whole season at a resort wearing these. The glacier glasses transition lenses work great. They’re also very nice for uphill travel. Only caveat with them is they’re not great for blizzards but you should be wearing goggles then anyway. Also a lot of glasses are too small on my face, but these fit great.

These glasses are amazing!

Remember I had asked about the pursuit prototypes your Oregon rep gave to my Son who manages a bike shop in Bend? Well you said in February you would inquire up the chain. I had asked if you could credit the purchase because I was using the prototype for my eyes - therapy for Ramsay Hunt Syndrome.

I love these glasses for spring skiing and skimo when you don’t need goggles. The coverage is excellent and they are great for cloudy conditions to full sun. I often find myself wearing them in variable light conditions at the ski hill as well due to how well they adapt to the changing light conditions.

Never in a million years did I think I would wear a shield like this but here I am. Grabbed these for touring to replace my Embarks and what a difference. Total wind blockage with good breathability. Non intrusive fit and a really functional range of shades in the photochromic lenses for my area. The side shield magnets are thoughtful and work great. Really happy with this purchase for back country travel. I just can't look at myself in the mirror. I look like such a nerd.

Having used these glasses for a lot of backcountry skiing this season, including a traverse of the Haute Route, I feel like I can provide some meaningful feedback. For their intended purpose, they are excellent. Fit, coverage, and optics are all fantastic. The lens works well in bright alpine/glacier sun at 3000+ meters. I didn’t experience any eye fatigue during whatsoever. Very very happy. However, one big issue is that the ends of the arms will scratch the inside of the lenses when the glasses are folded and stored inside their provided case. This scratching is enough to be noticeable while wearing the glasses. This is frustrating. I feel that I will have to 1. replace the lens and 2. add protective silicone tips to the ends of the arms. I don’t feel that this is something I should have to do for glasses this expensive. One other minor complaints include the side shields as others have mentioned. They do not seem to want to be removed; I fear that if I try they will break. So mounted they will remain and that will limit the versatility of these glasses. Aside from those two issues, these remain excellent glasses that I am happy to own and would recommend to anyone.

The photochromic lens with chromapop is amazing, the VLT range is superb and combined with a perfect field of view and lightweight frame I forget I'm wearing them

I recently purchased the Pursuit for alpine touring. The photochromatic glacier lens is the best lens I've ever worn. Light is variable in New England and the range this lens adjusts with light is amazing. Fit is also great with good coverage on the downhill. Highly recommend.
