I/O Goggles

"Dear Smith, I ordered two pairs of I/O ski goggles recently. One I received on March 19, 2026 (1246590), and the other I received March 23, 2026 (1249214). The former (1246590) was a birthday present to my son. In the picture below, you’ll see that the lens is defective. The order came with a Chromapop sun green mirror and another one that is in the picture below. I’m not sure what that color is, but I believe it’s meant for cloudy days and more appropriate for flat light. Anyway, if you look at the section that clips into the nose piece, you’ll see that there’s a double layer intruding on the tab that clips into the opening in the nose piece. Because of that double layer being where it is, when the lens is situated in place, it does not seal. Wind comes into the goggles because there a gap. There is not a tight seal. What can I do to replace this defective lens? If you need more information from me, please tell me. The shipment was sent to my home address at John Achorn, 240 Portland Street, Lancaster, NH 03584."

Great until foam disintegrates

"Great goggles until they aren't. Foam completely separated this season when I stopped for lunch midway through a ski trip and noticed crumbly foam falling on my lap. I reached out about a warranty and was told it's "out of the warranty period" while also being told it's a lifetime warranty. . . Apparently this is a common problem looking at reviews. . . My $15 cheapo goggles that are years older are still holding on."

Foam just falls apart

"Great goggles until the foam just disintegrates when you take them out of proper storage and actually need them for use. Disappointing in foam quality and longevity for the price, pretty sure they used faulty foam or glue in the layers of foam. And of course they require proof of purchase and everything in order for a replacement (no one keeps these receipts Smith), how about take the old, faulty goggles back as proof?"

Awful

"Goggle foam disintegrates after limited use. Customer service will provide a coupon for buying a new set of goggles as the limited lifetime warranty seems real limited. Glad we have several snow and bike helmets, multiple sets of goggles and extra lenses for a product they don't seem to stand behind. When asked what the limited lifetime warranty entails the CSR has stopped corresponding."

Foam separates from goggles after a season or two.

"Same as several other reviews— my goggles are in perfect condition after a few seasons except the foam suddenly separated. Nothing happened to prompt this except between a few weeks ago and today, it’s like the foam just hit its expiration date. I’ve had goggles last way way longer than this. Ridiculous."

Foam in your eyes

"Foam specs in your eyes. Foam completely fell apart. I stopped for lunch and had to flush my eyes and clean all of the black flakes off of my face. Two years old and trashed."

"Have a pair of Smith i/o had them in my closet for a couple of years. They are four years old. The foam was disintegrating. Such a disappointment"

Foam disintegrated. No warranty.

"Didn't honor warranty. Foam disintegrated. There are other goggles for a better value. Smith might have been good in the past, but either they have changed or the quality, standing behind their product has really gone downhill. Disappointed."

Smith doesn't stand behind their Warranty

"I have a pair of IO's that are a few seasons old. I keep a darker lens in them and only wear them on sunny spring days (I use an old pair of Phenom's with a turbofan and a light colored lens during the rest of the season). This year the foam on my IO's completely fell off either due to an adhesive failure or foam degradation. Smith said my goggles were out of the warranty period even though their website clearly states that goggles have a Limited Lifetime Warranty against manufacturing defects. Smith sucks. Buy from a company that stands behind their products and doesn't cheat the warranty."
