Ask Alice

Qual è la tua più grande paura o il tuo tallone d'Achille?

I would normally consider myself to be pretty fearless on the slopes. In saying that, one thing that does always seem to make my skin crawl is spiders … I just hate them.

Preferiresti essere inseguito da uno squalo o da un orso? E perché?

It depends, if I’m on land I’d rather be chased by a shark but if I am in water definitely a bear. It’s important to play to your strengths and the weaknesses of your opponents.

Qual è la tua ordinazione preferita quando vai in caffetteria?

While I am at home in the land of good coffee, I take an oat flat white. Overseas, I take it black & short.

Qual è il tuo SMITH preferito?

The 4D Mag goggle is my pick of the Smith range this season. I hope to be sporting a bright pink pair of these in my first WC this season.

Se non fossi uno sciatore professionista, cosa faresti?

I think I would be studying genetics, I was always fascinated during biology at school and in my off season I love reading about the latest thing they are whipping up in labs!

Quale sarebbe il titolo della tua autobiografia?

Alice In Winterland.

Alice Robinson is an Australian-born Kiwi skiing sensation who’s been on skis since the age of four. Beginning her racing career at eight with the Queenstown Alpine Ski Team it has been an epic story since. When she was just 16, she competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang, which made her New Zealand's youngest ever Winter Olympian. This was only the beginning as since she has successfully established herself as one of the worlds best ski racers. From winning elite level youth races such as Pokal Loka and the US Under-16 National Giant Slalom Championships, Alice then began competing in senior races in 2017 and launched herself as one to watch on the world stage.

Alice shocked the ski racing world in the 2018–19 northern hemisphere season with New Zealand’s first World Cup medal in over 17 years. Finishing just 0.3 seconds behind Mikaela Shiffrin, the world number one at the World Cup Finals, she shook up the scene and laid a pathway for her future results.

Her 2019–20 season began with a boom, a gold at the Audi FIS Alpine World Cup Giant Slalom in Sölden, Austria. She's the youngest person ever to win a World Cup race at Sölden and it was New Zealand's first World Cup win since Claudia Riegler back in 1997.

Alice has stunned the ski racing world since she began racing on the World Cup circuit in 2018. She now has five World Cup podiums to her name, including three wins, and currently jointly holds the world number one ranking for women's Giant Slalom with Federica Brignone (ITA). During the 2021 Northern Hemisphere season Alice secured her third World Cup win which resulted in her becoming the first woman to win three FIS World Cups before the age of 20 since 1988.
