Ask Austin Smith
If you could spend a day with any other SMITH athlete, who would it be and why?
I spend almost every day with Curtis Ciszek and that is always entertaining. But I would choose a day with the Smith INEOS Sailing team, please, please, please make that dream a reality. The boats they fly around on look insane.
What is your biggest fear or achilles heel?
Living a life where I’m no longer learning new things or challenging myself. Or living a “normal” life with the white picket fence, 2.5 kids and a golden retriever.
If you weren't an incredible athlete, what would you be?
I’ve been doing this since I was pretty young so it’s hard to imagine a life without snowboarding full time and all the influence it has had in my life. But I really enjoy building things, I’d hope to be like Jay Nelson building unique structures and vehicles.
What is your favorite SMITH product and why?
I’ve certainly spent the most time wearing the I/O or I/O MAG goggle throughout the years but this past winter I enjoyed wearing the Cariboo, fun to go back in time with a classic frame.
What are 5 things you can't leave home without?
My phone, I hope to change that in the future. It's scary how that little device is so integrated into my life. Phone, phone, phone, phone and phone.
If you could have 1 super-power, what would it be?
Control time, create more of it, go back and forward in it, slow it down, speed it up. Time is a precious thing.
