Snow Goggles

Do you need ski or snowboard goggles?

Yes, snow goggles are essential for anyone hitting the slopes. They protect your eyes from wind, snow, and harmful UV rays while enhancing visibility in varying weather conditions. Goggles also reduce glare and improve contrast, helping you navigate the terrain safely. Whether you're skiing or snowboarding, a quality pair of snow goggles is always a crucial part of your gear.

How do I choose the best snow goggles?

When choosing snow goggles, think about the light conditions you ride in most. Different lens tints work better for low light, bright sun, or flat-light days when visibility gets tricky. Fit matters just as much as lens choice. Your goggles should seal comfortably against your face and pair well with your helmet, so wind and snow can't sneak in around the edges. Anti-fog performance and good ventilation round out the picture, keeping your view clear whether you're grinding uphill or dropping into a run.

Are ski and snowboard goggles the same?

Yes, ski and snowboard goggles are the same. The key is to choose goggles that fit well, offer the lens technology you prefer, and complement your helmet. Whether you call them skiing goggles or snowboarding goggles, the important thing is that they enhance your experience on the mountain by protecting your eyes and improving clarity.

What color snow goggles are best for snow?

Smith Optics organizes lenses into three categories based on light, not color alone. Sun lenses have a lower VLT (light transmission) for bright, sunny days. Everyday lenses sit in the middle, built for a mix of sun and clouds. Storm lenses have the highest VLT for low light, flat light, and overcast days. Mirror finishes don't change how you see, they just change how you look to other people. If you only own one lens, an Everyday tint covers the widest range of conditions.
