Reviews

"Seems to be a very nice helmet. It is not the season now so I will have to wait to see how it works in practice, but the fit is good and it seems to be quite solid. My initial impression at least is that it is a very nice helmet."

K R. (5/5)

Just bought another

"Solid helmet. Comfortable, vents well, also warm when its cold. I have had this helmet for quite a few seasons. I caught an edge in funky slushy on a hardpack and crashed today. It pretty much destroyed the helmet, the top lid separated, broke the foam in several places, and crushed the Koroyd honeycomb material. It was a hard hit to the back of my head. Neck & shoulders are sore but brains don't appear to be scrambled any more than usual. I'm happy with it; I just bought a replacement."

Can’t put a price on your brain!!

"This helmet is top notch. Recently took a nasty fall at high speeds and hit the back of my head hard on some ice while snowboarding. The foam cracked in the helmet as designed when hitting your head as hard as I did. Left with some whiplash and a sore back but no concussion. If I could give it 6 stars I would. Would absolutely recommend this helmet to family and friends, can’t put a price on your head!!"

ARO (5/5)

Too small!

"I have a known big head. I wear fitted hats at size 7 7/8 to 8. I measured my head at just over 61 cm. I read that these helmets run small, so I went with the XL for 63-67 cm heads. Not a chance I can wear this, even with nothing underneath, such as a balaclava. It seems like the quoted sizes are without the padding installed into the helmet. It’s a shame, because I really like the style of it."

Total failure in customer service

"My Review is not about this specific product. I have a SMITH Optics helmet. My chin strap buckle came off. I have been trying to get a buckle from SMITH OPTICS Customer service for over 2 months with no response. Absolutely worst customer service you can possibly get. 4 emails and no response. Do your self a favour and buy a helmet from a company that can send you a $2 part for their $300 helmets in a timely fashion."

Dr S. (1/5)

Comfortable and great protection.

"Comfortable, warm, plenty of vents to shed heat on milder days, and most importantly, serious protection, which I need as I’m skiing with Parkinson’s. Replaced a Lesser helmet with the Vantage at the beginning of this season. I have no doubt that is has protected me from serious injury as I have occasionally made unplanned treks through the woods, not to mention the falls on trail that ended with my head bouncing off the snow. Through it all, the noggin is fine. Well, as fine as it ever was. On helmet number two and I’m confident in its ability to protect my head. Also pairs nicely with Smith goggles, keeping them fog free through heavy exertion."

William M. (5/5)

Decent

"One crash and this helmet exploded the whole top is ripped apart just from the crash it definitely protected my head but not very durable itself apparently definitely not worth 300 though 40$ seems reasonable"

Austin (3/5)

Not fluffy inside like the women’s model

"Great helmet. This is my second Smith. However my wife and I ordered the same model helmet. Hers is a M women’s and mine an XL. Mine is all rough inside. Hers is fluffy and soft. She has hair I’m bald. Seems trivial but you would think they are built the same. Otherwise I love the helmet"

Austin (4/5)

Comfortable, light weight, stylish helmet.

"Pro's = Comfort, Style, Features Cons = Price, buckle mechanism cumbersome, goggle retainer bungie deteriorates, should be more robust or replacable. Notes, Does run a little small vs the non MIPS version. If you are in the middle or upper end of the size range I'd advise trying on in a shop or ordering the next size bigger and dial it down with the BOA."
