Your Guide to Prescription Inserts for Goggles and Sunglasses

When you’re out on the trails or on the mountain, the last thing you want to worry about are itchy dry contact lenses or fumbling with glasses that are better suited to a day at the office. With SMITH prescription adapters, you can customize any pair of SMITH goggles and some of our favorite shield-style sunglasses for crystal-clear vision and total comfort.

Prescription Inserts for Ski and Snowboard Goggles

If you wear glasses or contacts, clear vision on the mountain shouldn’t be a compromise. The GRX Prescription Snow Goggle Adapter lets you customize any pair of SMITH ski or snowboard goggles with your prescription. Designed for a secure, fog-free fit, tuned arms secure this prescription insert even through lens changes or variable conditions. The lightweight matte clear frame blends seamlessly inside your goggles for distraction-free clarity, while built-in bumpers help protect both your prescription lenses and your goggle lens from scratches. Compatible with all SMITH goggles, including Imprint 3D and kids goggles, the GRX Prescription Snow Goggle Adapter makes it simple to ride with confidence and comfort all day long.

Prescription Inserts for Performance Sunglasses

You don’t have to choose between performance and prescription anymore. The ODS5 Prescription Sunglasses Adapter lets you turn your favorite shield-style sunglasses, like Shift MAG, Wildcat, Bobcat, and more, into customized prescription performance eyewear. The lightweight adapter snaps securely into the nose piece for a full, unobstructed field of view, while rubber bumpers protect both lenses and keep everything stable on rough rides. Easily swap lenses to match changing light conditions without removing the insert, and give yourself clear and protected vision on every trail or ride.

Do You Have to Use a Prescription Insert?

Not necessarily, it depends on your personal preferences. SMITH offers prescription sunglasses and OTG (Over the Glasses) goggles if you prefer a traditional frame. If you’re looking for a more streamlined, performance-driven setup, we recommend the GRX Prescription Snow Goggle Adapter and the ODS5 Prescription Sunglasses Adapter.  If you plan on doing high-speed descents or frequently experience windy conditions, a shield-style lens is the best way to keep your eyes protected and tear-free. Currently, the only way to make shield styles like Shift MAG, Wildcat, and Bobcat work with your prescription is with a prescription insert.
