Nexus Mips®

First new helmet in a while, and my first go 'round with SMITH for a snow helmet. So stoked! It happens to fit my head really well, is low-profile so I don't feel like I have a giant bowling ball on my head, and it integrates seamlessly with with SQUAD MAG goggles for a really awesome and functional pairing. The vents! The vents are amazing, and having a fore / aft option top open or close depending on conditions, output, etc. is a great idea. The chin strap is quite comfortable and the removable ear flaps are warm while still allowing for good hearing. I haven't pulled mine out, yet, but... it appears easy to do. The noggin-saving tech on the inside (MIPS, etc.) is outstanding and best-in-class and, as someone who has had multiple concussions over the years from skiing, biking and surfing, I feel really solid in this thing. I haven't take a bad hit to the dome while wearing this yet and, while I'm trying to avoid that, I feel confident that I have the best protection available if and when that time comes. Lastly, the helmet looks and feels cool... I grew up in a time when NOBODY wore helmets and, while that was certainly dumb in hindsight, it just wasn't part of ski culture... at all. Bottom line: if it looks good and I feels good to wear, I end up forgetting that I have it on and just focus on the skiing. Now, I don't step out onto the snow without it... Really enjoying this helmet. It is comfortable, and I love the clasp. The ear covers come out easily when I am teaching, and go back in easily when I am on my own. I really love the venting feature. It’s a good system and pairs well with their goggles.

Just bought the helmet and used first time yesterday. Helmet is great and well worth the extra $$. My Oakley goggles push down against my cheeks and nose, uncomfortable feel. I wanted to see about a good matched goggle and even glasses (Venture, Embark, Pursuit, etc. . ) that fit well. Most likely my face shape is the cause. I am in Breckenridge area until 03/21. Based in Fort Worth, TX. Any recommendations on vendors in Breckenridge or near Fort Worth, TX carrying Smith products in stock would be helpful.

Great fit and adjustability with the BOA fit. The buckle is easy to use and adjust as needed.

Snowboarding in Japan today. Hit a low spot flipped and landed on my head. I hit hard enough to crack one side of helmet and buckle the other side. Thanks Hod and the safety features of this helmet I was able to dust off without injury. I'll have to buy a replacement. Thank you Smith

Bought this recently and just used it at Taos. It was like the universe was speaking to me; fell flat on my back head to the hardpack and without this helmet I have no doubt I would have had a concussion. One of the best purchases I have made.

Helmet is super comfortable, vents great, and the removable ears are great for warm/hard days. The best part of the helmet is that it works. Had a head on incident with a tree that left me with a broken collarbone, separated shoulder, torn rotator cuff, broken hand, and ripped ear. The helmet was obliterated, but I didn't even suffer a minor concussion.

While all Smith helmets are good, the higher end models really stand out for the extra cost. The Nexus looks killer, breathes well, and all the small features make it lovely to work in every day. It does seem to fit a bit larger than the last few size large helmets I've owned, like the Vantage.

I've been very happy with this helmet. I've been choosing the smith brand since working in a ski shop in college 17 years ago. As clinical adjunct faculty teaching "Evidence Based Concussion Management and Care," the addition of MIPS and KOROYD and the advanced BOA system was everything I look for based on the most up to date research.

Seems like a great helmet. Bought after this year’s season was over for me, so the functionality, fit, performance test will be next season.

Fit perfectly, comfortable and robust design, my last Smith helmet lasted over 20 years I expect nothing less with this helmet total protection, super light, warm in sub freezing weather, did I say Super light, yes and it looks great too, love all the vents, job well done Smith!!

Love the new straps with the magnets. Once Ingot used to it, I find it easier and more intuitive to buckle and unbuckle while on my head.

Lightweight, solid fit with easy adjustments. I like the brim. In the PNW, the brim keeps precip off the top of goggles and helps prevent fogging. I wish Smithwould bring back the TurboFan goggles.

I’d say this is the best helmet I’ve ever owned. Pro: Comfortable, durable, maximum ventilation (best I’ve ever had…and really a most have for individuals who sweat a lot like myself and want to keep cooler without compromising their safety) Con: The chin strap continues to slowly loosen. I think it’s due to the material used. It’s not a huge issue at all but it’s an issue if you like your helmet to be snug and not start banging into your googles over time. (Fix…I put a drop of crazy glue to hold the strap in the position I want & form slowly backing it’s way out)

The helmet is as advertised. Fit is a little weird at first but will adjust to your head. It has plenty of ventilation. The buckle feature is nice as it’s a little bit easier to click in. It’s a bit bulky for backcountry but overall a good helmet.

Ski helmet

This helmet is exactly what I was hoping for. The fit is perfect for my biggish head. Between the insulation on cold days and the ability to open different vents depending on conditions it’s been an amazing addition to my equipment. I’m always the right temp.

Had to replace my old helmet because I broke it in a hard crash. No brain or head damage. Happy with this new helmet, fits better than the Quantum, but I am finding it is not as warm and the goggles will not sit above the brim like the old helmet. Overall I am very happy with this new brain bucket

Love everything about this helmet except for the lower part of the helmet dents way too easy. I was sitting down and stood up while grabbing at my helmet and missed nocking it off the table onto the tip of my ski boot. it made a big dent on the back left low section just above the word SMITH. And this year skiing I noticed new dimple dents from my goggle straps on both sides of the helmet where the front ear straps join to the helmet. This section feel like it's made of lightweight aluminum or something like that. This is the only down fall about this helmet! The rest of the helmet is perfect! Love it! They just need to fix the lower section to be like the rest of the helmet.

Finally kissed a tree after 25 years of skiing. The accident got me serious about next level head protection and this was my choice. Love the style and fit. Hope I never have to test it!
