Reviews

One drop and it’s trashed—Warranty won't help.

"I really enjoyed this helmet until I accidentally dropped it from waist height. The internal MIPS cradle snapped at the adjustment point, and since it’s integrated, the helmet is now unfixable. Even though it's marketed for rugged mountain bike use, Smith denied my warranty claim, citing that "dropped" items aren't covered. If you buy this, be aware that the internal plastic is surprisingly brittle and the 3-year warranty has major loopholes."

Best helmet I’ve ever owned

"This lightweight helmet fits me very well. The helmet is true to size and the adjustment system allows for a custom fit, even when I add a thin stocking cap for cooler temperatures. The shell is durable and the Mips system is a plus. The adjustable visor is also a great feature. Best helmet I’ve ever owned."

Life saver

"I bought this helmet for its comfort as I needed to wear it all day. Just recently it literally saved my life. I was cycling on my Penny Farthing bike when I was hit by a car and knocked unconscious. I don’t think I’d be here today if I wasn’t wearing this helmet. I will be buying another Smith Helmet for sure."

"Light weight and the fit."

Brian (5/5)

Great fit and functional, ventilated design

"This helmet has an incredible fit. I'm happy with the large openings in the front to vent hot head air. I feel comfortable and safe with the coverage around the back of the head."

Faulty chinstrap slips

"First good, got a medium at 55cm but after wraring the webbing no magter how i lace the chin strap slips out of place and gets so looe it wouldn’t do its job if I were to crash. I bike to work for 20 years so dont think it is a user error or issue as i have a smaller female face and headZ"

BS (4/5)

Strap doesn’t work

"Chin strap constantly loosens itself when properly adjusted and threaded making protection impossible."

BS (2/5)

Comfortable Helmet

"Fits my Medium/Large head nicely. No pressure points."

Alex N. (5/5)

Love the fit

"I have a large head that is hard to find a good helmet for and this fits greats!"

David W. (5/5)

Love it / hate it

"I have 3 engage mips version one helmets. Perfect fit for my melon. I bought another as a spare. It is a version two. I love the version one, the version two is ok. Smith? Why can't you put tge version / revision on the product model? BE AS ADVERTISED PLEASE! Products like helmets and shoes need to fit the anatomical shape of our bodies. When you change the shape of your product you should state it or at least put a new model revision on the end of the model name so customers know something changed. You did the same thing to the forefronts years back. I have a couple of the original forefronts that i love, and a newish one that i hate. If you make a geometrical change to a helmet you should also differentiate the model name and #."
